A group of experts from the British Society for Rheumatology came together to improve care for people ANCA-associated vasculitis. These experts included doctors who specialize in joints, kidneys, lungs, ear, nose and throat problems, as well as children’s health and a person with lived experience.
The group looked at the latest research and international advice, and came up with 26 recommendations. These cover how to treat and support people with AAV, how to set up specialist services, and how to educate and help patients. They also suggested areas for future research and created a tool to help check if care is meeting the recommended standards.
